Reading Culture

To the honorable teacher, Mr.Harwanto and all of my friends.

Assalamu`alaikum Wr.Wb. Good morning everybody.

First of all I want to introduce my self. My name is Nurkhalisha Ersyafiani, I come from 6 Senior High School grade X6. In this opportunity I would like to deliver my speech entitled “Reading Culture”

I start my speech by asking question, do you like reading?

Brothers and sisters...

Most people in Indonesia do not interest to read diligently, but part of them like to read. Why it happens? There are two answers, because they do not realize how important is and they do not know the benefits of reading. Whereas there are many advantages of reading.

In this time I will tell you only three points how good reading is.

First, open our inspiration. By reading, we will know many things and it inspires us to know the new thing that we did not know yet. Such as, by reading health books we will master more a pattern of healthy life. Then, if we read a book that tell us about traveling or history of many countries in the world, we will get a motivation to go around the world and learn about it.

Second, add our knowledge. Beside open inspiration, reading can enhance our knowledge. We know that there is a slogan said “Book is the windows to the world” it mean the more we read, the more knowledge we get. For example, we read about research in Indonesia so that we can try and make an experiment that can be useful for human life, example Kito Juice is markisa mix with tomato can control our cholesterol.

Third, rise our creativity. By reading, our creativity will stimulated. Such as, reading about paper craft or handy craft so that we will have an idea to develop it and produce something valuable from paper.

Brothers and sisters...

Because of technological developments that bring two things, positive and negative effects, many people especially teenager using gadget like handphone, netbook, and other. Beside for communication, they use it to search information, knowledge, science and many things that more up to date. The result is reading can be done wherever and whenever we want. Not only from a book, but also from internet we can get many things that can be useful and we apply it in our life.

Based on my explanation, it is clear that reading have a special advantage that help and solve our daily problem. So, start from now “Make Reading Being Your Habit!”

I think that`s all my speech. Hopefully it can be useful for us.
